A Word from the Pastor... I want to thank you for your support of Harvest Community Church as we strive to become a biblically functioning community that is radically devoted to Jesus Christ. God has brought each of you to Harvest for a reason and I believe part of that reason is that you become involved in God's ministry at Harvest in reaching out to people with the love of God. Starting with Maytown and reaching out to the world. You can serve the Lord in a couple of different areas. Jen Kosydar needs help in the nursery. Tracy Deshong would like some help with hospitality. You can also help with teaching children, leading a Community Group, help with set up & tear down, or help with the sound or data teams. The Car Cruise is a great way to reach out into the Community. We are also looking for a person to be our Missions Coordinator, to promote World Missions at Harvest. I hope to get to the place at Harvest where everyone is serving in some capacity. We talked about being intentional about helping with the ministry. Looking ahead to September, we are looking to gain a fresh perspective on relationships. Some of the topics we will discuss are taking out the trash, understanding ourselves, forgiveness, grace, and moving on. The format for the sermon will be changing slightly to include a discussion time. Let me know how you like the discussion time. Pastor Dan Houck will be speaking on September 16. Community Groups will be starting a regular meeting schedule in September. I hope that you will join a group for a great time of fellowship and growth as believers. If you need more information, please contact Larry Mylin at 361-2698 or mylinshouse@aol.com. Women's bible study will be starting the week of September 18. The Study is "Living Beyond Yourself" by Beth Moore. October sermon series will center on our Vision Statement. We will attempt to answer the question, what are we trying to accomplish as a church? Operation Christmas Child is right around the corner. You will be hearing more about it in the coming months. I want to thank you in advance for your involvement in accomplishing the mission and vision of Harvest. |
![]() Dear Lord, loving Creator of us all, we remember with great sadness those whose lives were taken on September 11, 2001. We hold up to you the victims' families that they may know, despite their pain, that they can find solace in you living presence. Help them bring their hurting hearts to you, realizing that your everlasting arms can bear them up and that they cannot be separated from your abiding love. Please assure us that even though we cannot understand such horrible deeds, you can bring good out of evil, justice out of in justice and righteousness out of unrighteousness. Therefore, confessing our human weaknesses, our grief and our struggles to make sense out of this world, we cry out with the psalmist: "Rise up, O LORD; O God, lift up you hand; do not forget the oppressed" (Psalm 10:12, NRSV). Strengthen our hearts, this day and every day. Amen.

Cruise Night
September 8th marks our 8th annual Cruise Night
held at Conoy Park behind the Village Homestead Restaurant from 3:00 -
6:00pm. We will have food available on site by the Conoy Lions Club, Village Homestead Restaurant, Open Grill Chicken, and the Boy Scouts will have Pork BBQ available. Our own B.A.S.I.C. Youth Ministry will be selling Turkey Hill Ice Cream and on site photos of individual cars. There will be some activities for the kids as well, like the "Pit Stop Challenge" again this year. We will change things up a little with having a DJ playing music throughout the day in place of the HCC worship Band. The crowd favorite is the 5:30 Burnout Contest which will be judged once again by the Susquehanna Regional Police Dept. All this activity requires a lot of manpower. Please consider serving our God and community by signing up to help on Saturday September 8, 2007. Call Dale or Bobbi @ 367-6863 home or 367-9753 office.

HCC Financial Report - 2nd Quarter by Stephen Doutrich We made it through summers slump in the financial category. We are currently about $11,000 behind our budgeted income. The good news is that we are also under budget in our expenses. However, some of those expenses will come in the fall, so we need to catch up soon. Part of our responsibility as disciples of Jesus Christ is to support the ministry of His church. As I have said before, we can be a blessing to God by not only what we give, but the attitude by which we give. I passed a church sign that read, Give to the applause of heaven. I hope you will consider giving to the applause of heaven and be a blessing to God. Our vision of making radically devoted disciples of Jesus who are relentlessly dedicated to reaching those outside of Gods family takes resources of time and money. Thanks for being a shareholder in the ministry.
